How to get the perfect swing

Golf is a game of timing, feel, and precision. I came from Argentina and now play college golf in the United States. I've spent much time perfecting my swing and trying to get the "perfect" motion. While my technique is strong, I’ve learned that true consistency comes from something deeper, tempo.

Early on, I believed mastering mechanics alone would give me the perfect swing. However, as time went on, I came to the realization that without a smooth and natural rhythm, even the best technique fails. Not only do the world's best players swing well, but they also swing in tune with their tempo. When I stopped trying to hold positions and started feeling my swing flow, that was the turning point for me. I focus on a balanced, controlled motion that allows my body to move naturally rather than rushing or overthinking. Watching players like Emiliano Grillo and Fabian Gomez, who make the game look effortless, has helped me appreciate the beauty of a smooth tempo.

Putting has been an exciting challenge, even though my full swing continues to improve. Some days, I can read greens like a book, seeing every break and slope. On other days, the slopes are hard to see. One thing that has helped is feeling the greens with my feet, a trick I picked up from top players. My reads have greatly improved as a result of walking around my putts and sensing the slope through my stance. Relaxing my focus is another key. I try to visualize the ball rolling into the hole and trust my instincts rather than getting too technical. The best putts happen when I rely on feelings rather than overanalyzing every break.

The fact that there is always room for improvement in a golf swing makes it unique. I have to remind myself to be patient on some days, while everything works out perfectly on others. Although I am aware that there is always more that I can learn, figuring out my tempo has been a huge step forward. Whether it’s fine-tuning my putting, sharpening my mental game, or adapting to different courses.

If you want to improve your swing, I advise looking for your rhythm rather than just your technique. A perfect swing isn’t about looking textbook; it’s about feeling effortless. Golf is about trust, patience, and flow. Once you tap into that, the game becomes a lot more enjoyable and a lot more consistent.
